Over three years, I documented Jack and Oscar Thompson on their 207-acre farm in Wolverine, Michigan. Their work reflects the rhythms of Northern Michigan farming—winter days spent clearing land by hand, and summers devoted to planting alfalfa, soybeans, and forage sorghum to support both soil health and wildlife habitat. Through seasonal cycles of labor and stillness, I captured how farming here is less about yield and more about connection: to family, to land, and to the pace of nature itself.
